Purpose

The purpose of the Brightness/Flashlight Test Module is to test and verify the functionality of the active faces of the Brightness Sense Cubelet and the Flashlight Action Cubelet.

Method

As the purpose of the Brightness/Flashlight Test Module is to test two different Cubelets, the methods of testing will be twofold: Brightness Cubelets will be tested by isolating the active face of the test subject and exposing the active face to a time-varying ambient light level. The Cubelet value will be electronically measured during the exposure period, and the measured values will be compared to a set of nominal values corresponding to the time-varying ambient light level. Flashlight Cubelets will be tested by isolating the active face of the test subject and electronically assigning a time-varying value to the Cubelet. A brightness sensor on the test module will be exposed to the light emitted from the active face of the Flashlight Cubelet, and the brightness of the emitted light will be measured during the exposure period. The measured values will be compared to a set of nominal values corresponding to the time-varying assigned Cubelet value.

Analysis

The comparisons between measured values and nominal values that occur in the test method will generate an error value for each measurement, defined as the difference between the measured value and the nominal value. The sum of the errors of all measurements performed on a test subject will be computed and compared to a threshold value. If the error sum meets or exceeds the threshold value, the test subject will fail the test.
